About the event

I firmly believe that finding the right style of mindfulness and meditation for you is like finding the right style of exercise.

Think about it - if someone told you that you needed to go out for a run (one of the most traditional form of exercise we all can think of), how motivated and excited are you going to feel for that? Some individuals may love that idea and get great results! But there are a lot of people out there that won't feel that's the right form of exercise for them or find it enjoyable. Now if someone said that you could try out a Zumba class, a HIIT workout, do yoga, go swimming, or go play some pick up games of your favorite sport? Now we're talking! The important thing here is that you have options, and when you're able to explore and try out lots of different styles you ultimately find the right fit for you. When you find the right fit, this motivates you to do it more often, you see more results, and you get to enjoy the benefits of having a consistent routine.

It's the same with mindfulness and meditation. When you hear the word "meditation", what comes to mind?

You most likely are thinking of the most traditional form of meditation that we see the most. You know, where someone sits with their legs crossed, eyes closed, in a quiet and still way. If someone told you that you needed to sit down in silence for 30 minutes a day, what is your personal first reaction? For some individuals, this sounds like heaven and this is the style that works for them and that is amazing! However, for others, this doesn't sound appealing. A lot of us are familiar with the apps like Calm and Headspace; these apps are amazing and super effective for lots of folks out there! However, they're only showing one side of what these practices can look like.

If up until now, you've felt like you're someone who "can't do meditation", "is bad at it", or "is doing it wrong" - I'm here to tell you that none of this is true!

Mindfulness and meditation are not a "one size fits all". There are actually so many different practices that we can do that we enjoy and give us the same benfits - but look a little different than the traditional form. Let's find the perfect practice for you! Whether you're a complete beginner or are a longterm practitioner - If you're ready to "try on" an array of mindfulness and meditation styles, then you're in the right place!

Here's what we'll explore in our 9 Classes together:

Class #1 (May 17th): The Basics of Mindfulness and Meditation

Class #2 (May 24th): Practicing Mindfulness and Meditation Using The Body

Class #3 (May 31st): Mindfulness and Meditation in Relation to our Thoughts

Class #4 (June 7th): Mindfulness and Meditation Through Movement

Class # 5 (June 14th): Mindfulness and Meditation Through Art/Wrap Up

As we navigate the many different ways Mindfulness and Meditation can look, these classes will also include some aspects of life coaching. For example, there will be journaling prompts at the beginning of our classes - powerful questions that will lead to inner reflection and empowering insights; which is what we do in life coaching! And, at the end of each class, you'll be asked to set up an action plan. The purpose of this action plan will be for you to decide what you need to do to reduce stress or simply improve the overall quality of your life. During classes, we will go into breakout rooms to share with other members how our action plan went. You know what this just created? Accountability. Boom. You know what else this just created? The chance to create community around people that are like minded individuals and all striving to learn and grow! Along with each class, you'll also have resources that are available to all students that will help with continuing your practice the days that we don't have class.

Still wondering if signing up for this course is for you? Here are a few more indicators that mindfulness and meditation would be beneficial:

  • Does it feel like your mind and inner dialogue are your biggest enemy instead of your biggest ally?
  • Are you constantly thinking a thousand thoughts a minute,  unable to turn your mind off?
  • Is it difficult to fall asleep at night because your thoughts keep you awake?
  • Is stress or anxiety present in your life or a constant state of being and are you looking for tools to help in reducing these emotions?
  • Are you simply looking for a way to get more grounded and increase well-being?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then joining this Mindfulness & Meditation Group Coaching would be perfect for you.

***What is mindfulness and meditation?***

Mindfulness is maintaining a moment to moment awareness; it means to live in the present moment. This awareness can be towards our thoughts, emotions, body, and environment. The awareness also comes with acceptance; we do not judge anything we experience as “good” or “bad”. Through mindfulness, we are given the opportunity to not live worrying about the future or ruminating on the past - but rather we begin to practice enjoying the present. Meditation is the practice of concentrated focus on a sound, object, visualization, the breath, movement, or attention itself in order to increase awareness of the present moment, reduce stress, promote relaxation, and enhance personal and spiritual growth.
