I've always felt my purpose in life was to help others.
I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of San Francisco, finding a deep passion for understanding how humans work and also how we can use our psychology to work for us instead of against us. During my time in undergrad, my focus on research was in mindfulness and meditation, as well as positive psychology - both of which focus on optimizing our human experience. Post graduation, it took some time to figure out how I could use my love for psychology and use that to help others. It wasn’t a linear line that led to life coaching, but rather a series of serendipitous events, paired with introspective discovery and hard work that have brought me to where I am in life at this very moment. A year and a half after graduating from USF, I became a Certified Professional Coach (CPC) and Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner (ELI-MP) through the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC). After obtaining 100+ hours of coaching individuals, I have now also received my ACC certification. In 2021, I went through the Mindfulness and Meditation Teacher Training certification program through the School of Positive Transformation. I have used used this knowledge to start multiple Mindfulness and Meditation programs for kids in schools throughout the Bay Area. I also offer virtual Mindfulness and Meditation group classes to all age ranges, have held in person retreats, and have ran workshops in a variety of environments such as colleges and senior centers.
My approach is to be a calm and comfortable presence - holding space for people to feel, release, and grow. As one of my clients stated - “Marissa sees the best in you and helps you recognize and appreciate your strengths and passions.” Pairing these attributes along with my Bachelors Degree in Psychology, certification in life coaching, and teacher certification in Mindfulness and Meditation, I'm ready to offer my knowledge to anyone who is ready to tap into their "younique" potential and live their best life through a variety of holistic practices.
